About Geoff………

Geoff was born and raised in Sydney but moved to North Queensland with CSR Sugar in 1974 and has been a Queenslander ever since. He moved from Ingham to Mackay in 1990 as the Information Technology Manager of the newly formed Mackay Sugar Cooperative, and later started his own consultancy, acting as a project manager for IT-related projects in large and small businesses. He also volunteered on local and state organisations and committees aimed at developing the regional IT industry, notably the Mackay IT Network (MITN) and the State Government’s ICT Ministerial Advisory Group. In his spare time Geoff has been a practising musician for about 60 years (it keeps him sane) and you may have seen him performing in his bands Hot! Hot! Hot!, Hullabaloo and Piping Mad. He also plays social tennis regularly. Having lost his wife of 50 years in 2022, he is in the process of “downsizing” to a Crown apartment and looks forward to contributing to his new community as a member of your committee.

About Gary………

Gary has lived in Mackay since the early 1970s. After completing his secondary education at Mackay State High School, he continued his studies at the original Kangaroo Point TAFE College. In 1992, Gary co-founded BB Print alongside Roy Brunke, starting with a modest shopfront and a single-color press. Today, BB Print has grown into Central Queensland’s leading printing and associated services provider, employing over 22 full-time local staff.

As both a local and a business leader, Gary remains deeply committed to Mackay’s community. His company proudly sponsors Stadium Mackay, providing vital financial support while championing the ethos of “locals supporting locals.” Beyond sponsorship, BB Print invests in the future of the printing industry by training apprentices—typically at least two at any given time—in printing, binding, or graphic design. The company also actively promotes inclusive employment, partnering with organizations like Ideal Placements and Community Solutions to create opportunities for people of all abilities.
